Chelsea FC midfielder Izzy Brown has completed a season-long loan move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. The 23-year old had been wanted by a number of clubs in the second tier of English league football after his largely impressive showings on loan at Luton Town across the 2019-20 season.
Brown made 28 appearances for the Hatters last season despite suffering a series of hamstring and Achilles issues that curtailed his minutes on the pitch. However, the midfielder’s performances in the centre of the park proved to be essential towards Luton Town avoiding the fate of relegation.
The ex-England U20 international has, however, been unable to make a similar impact on Chelsea FC’s first-team squad. Since signing for the Blues in 2013 from West Brom, Brown has made a sole Premier League appearance for the west London club, that too coming back in May 2015 against his former side.
He has been shipped off a number of loan spells in recent seasons with none of the Chelsea FC coaches insistent on retaining Brown’s services at Stamford Bridge. With just a year left on his existing deal with the Blues, it remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard will be keen on extending the 23-year old’s stay at Stamford Bridge.
