The signing of Kai Havertz, which is expected to be announced by Chelsea FC in the coming days, would set a new world-record transfer fee paid for a German player, according to reports.
The 21-year old starlet is poised to make the move to Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window after months of negotiations between the player’s current club Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea FC.
However, despite the recent halt in talks between the two parties, the player is believed to be on the verge of signing for the Blues ahead of the 2020-21 season. The German starlet has made it clear to the Leverkusen management about his desire to join Frank Lampard’s side.
Havertz is expected to sign a five-year deal with Chelsea FC, reports suggest. There had been speculation earlier about the attacker already having agreed upon personal terms with the west London outfit.

A transfer fee remains a major source of discussion with both European clubs despite the near-certainty of the German international playing in the Blues shirt next season onwards.
The most expensive German player in history is Timo Werner, one of Frank Lampard’s newest acquisitions at Stamford Bridge. The 24-year old striker was signed from RB Leipzig earlier this summer for a reported fee of £47.5 million.
