Liverpool express shock interest in signing Antonio Rudiger

Amid rumours that Frank Lampard may be willing to sanction a sale for Antonio Rudiger this summer, Liverpool have entered the fray to make a move for the German international. It is understood that Chelsea FC will have offload at least one first-team centre-back to accommodate potential arrivals at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year old Rudiger has been subject to loads of criticism for his displays on the pitch over the past year. He has been held accountable for making a number of errors in recent games that have contributed to the Blues having conceded the greatest number of goals in the top-ten of this season’s Premier League campaign.

On the other hand, the Reds are looking to fortify their squad depth by bringing in a central defender this summer. Following Dejan Lovren’s move to Zenit, Jurgen Klopp’s side are lacking quality defensive options amongst their ranks. First-team member Joel Matip has had constant injury troubles, leaving only Joe Gomez to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence.

Rumours suggest Lampard will be open to selling Rudiger this summer if a £20 million bid arrives the club’s way. Moreover, the Chelsea FC boss is on the search for reinforcements at centre-back for his side ahead of next season.

Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez looks poised to be Lampard’s top target this summer. The Uruguayan international is a leading candidate to seal a move to Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
