Wantaway Chelsea FC winger Willian is set to have agreed upon a three-year deal with Arsenal, according to recent reports. The player will join the Gunners on a free transfer following his contract with the Blues coming to an end at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
Recent weeks had seen Arsenal emerge as the frontrunners in the widely contested race to sign the 31-year old Willian this summer. Previous candidates in the race to make a move for the Brazilian international included top clubs like FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Liverpool.
The Blues ace will join Mikel Arteta’s side on a three-year deal, earning a reported figure of £100,000-a-week. Willian had been persistent in his demands of being offered a contract extension for three years at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea FC, however, had refused to give in to the Brazilian’s behest, with the West London based outfit instead tabling a two-year deal to the 31-year old.
Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard had publicly voiced his desire of keeping the contract rebel Willian at the club beyond the current season. However, it seems as if the Blues coach’s attempts proved futile as the Brazilian international gears up for a move to the Emirates Stadium.
