The current first-team squad at Chelsea FC will see two more arrivals in the form of club loanees Davide Zappacosta and Kennedy. Both players will return to Stamford Bridge following the conclusion of their season-loan loan spells away from the club at AS Roma and Getafe respectively.
Zappacosta’s stint at the Rome based giants was a season full of highs and lows for the Italian international. Initially, the fullback was expected to make a foray into AS Roma’s starting lineup with an early run of good form. However, injury issues that have plagued the 28-year old often during his time at the Blues, troubled him again in Italy.
The fullback’s Serie A campaign with Paulo Fonseca’s side was restricted to just nine appearances. The Italian side did not activate their buy-option that was included in the loan agreement signed last summer. Zappacosta, however, expressed his gratitude towards AS Roma and the club’s supporters through a post on his Instagram account.
Kenndy, on the other hand, was subject to a great deal of first-team involvement while on loan at Getafe. The Brazilian attacker played as many as 27 games for the Spanish side across all competitions, scoring thrice and making five assists in the process.
It is not known yet whether the Blues manager Frank Lampard will make the decision of offloading both returnees on a permanent basis this summer. The duo have two years remaining on either of their current deals with Chelsea FC.
