Chelsea FC target Kai Havertz has garnered huge praise from German teammate Ilkay Gundogan amid rumors of the former being very close to signing for Chelsea FC. Gundogan, who plays for Manchester City, has termed Havertz to be a better player than Germany and Blues midfield icon Michael Ballack.
“He brings a lot with him and now it is up to him to show his tremendous talent. He has that calmness and composure on the ball and is also a thoughtful guy off of it.
“In my opinion, Havertz is even better than Ballack in terms of his play.
Such praise for the 21-year old Havertz is certainly bound to increase the expectations of Chelsea FC supporters following his arrival at Stamford Bridge. Ballack was a midfield force during his days at the Blues and was loved by the club’s fanbase. The former German international’s style of play was largely characterized by his level of aggression on the pitch.
However, comparing Havertz to a player of Ballack’s stature is indeed high praise for the Bayer Leverkusen starlet. Ballack won many laurels in his distinguished playing career, including a Premier League title with the Blues. Moreover, he also tasted international glory with Germany, winning the World Cup runners-up medal with them in 2002.
Besides praising Havertz’s talent, Gundogan also applauded new Chelsea FC signing Timo Werner’s ability as a proven goalscorer. The Manchester City midfielder has played with the 24-year old striker too for their national team on numerous occasions.
“Believe me: Everyone at City knows about Timo Werner. Many of my team-mates asked what kind of guy he is. He deserves respect,”
