Chelsea set their sights on a move for a Real Madrid flop

Rumors linking Real Madrid flop Luka Jovic with a move to Chelsea FC have reignited in recent days. According to reports, the Blues have expressed interest in signing the striker this summer to improve their depth in the attacking department.

Jovic’s first season at the Los Blancos has been nothing short of a disappointment for the player and as well as for the La Liga giants. The Serbian has failed to make an impact on Zinedine Zidane’s squad since his move to Spain last summer. Moreover, it seems as if the 22-year old Jovic may choose to leave Real Madrid in the ongoing transfer window.

Frank Lampard has been alerted to the Serbian international’s present situation at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The Chelsea FC manager is understood to be wanting to add further attacking reinforcements to his side. Forwards Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already been signed by the Blues this summer.

However, long-term Chelsea FC attackers Willian and Pedro are set to leave Stamford Bridge shortly. The latter has signed on a two-year deal with AS Roma, whereas Willian’s contract talks with the club have failed despite repeated attempts. Arsenal are in pole position to land the 31-year old winger’s signing following his current deal’s expiry with Frank Lampard’s side.

Jovic’s signing could present Chelsea FC with a great attacking option in terms of quality. Despite the 22-year old’s struggles in Spain over the past season, he is a fantastic striker. The Serbian international had netted 36 goals in 75 games during his time at Bundesliga side Frankfurt.

Speculation indicates Real Madrid too are willing to sanction a sale for their 22-year old flop signing this summer. Jovic has failed to impress Zidane as well as the Spanish club’s ardent fanbase with his showings on the pitch. The former Frankfurt star has found the back of the net just twice in 25 league outings.

According to rumors, the Los Blancos are prepared to sell Jovic for a £31.3million fee. This means that the La Liga side are even willing to take a huge loss on the initial sum paid by them to sign the striker last summer. Jovic’s signing from Frankfurt had cost Real Madrid £55 million following his move to Spain.
