Axed Chelsea FC record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga might have played his last game for the Blues. The Spaniard is likely to be benched in favor of veteran goalkeeper Willy Cabellero for Saturday’s FA Cup final clash against Arsenal. The 38-year old Cabellero had started Chelsea FC’s recent Premier League fixture in goal against Wolves too.
Reports suggest that the 25-year old Kepa has accepted his fate as an outcast in Frank Lampard’s side. The Spanish international’s future at Stamford Bridge beyond this season has been the source of great speculation in recent months. However, now the former Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper has resigned to his fate of being offloaded by the Blues this summer.

The 25-year old’s performances between the sticks for the Blues has been torrid post the Project Restart. Chelsea FC’s defensive woes have been widely highlighted with the number of goals let in by the West London based outfit over the past month.
And Kepa is of the opinion that he is being set up as the fall guy for the club’s issues on the pitch. The Spaniard’s run of form has been largely inconsistent throughout the course of the 2019-20 season.
Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard had chosen to bench Arrizabalaga for up to five games during March this year. Cabellero had deputized for the 25-year old Spanish international during that time. However, the Argentine goalkeeper had failed to cement his spot in the club’s starting lineup.
After reclaiming the first-choice spot in Frank Lampard’s side, Kepa has not endured the most enjoyable of seasons on an individual front. He has made numerous errors in goal by misjudging corner kicks and failing to make even the most routine saves.
The 25-year old had signed for the Blues back in 2018 on a massive seven-year deal. With five years still remaining on his contract with Chelsea FC, Kepa’s future at the club hangs in the balance. La Liga side’s Sevilla and Valencia have expressed in signing the Chelsea FC outcast this summer.
Meanwhile, the Blues remain linked with making a move for a world-class goalkeeping option this summer. Names like Jan Oblak and Andre Onana have been rumored to be on Frank Lampard’s shortlist to replace Kepa in goal for his side next season.
