Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has dismissed speculation linking Ben Chilwell with a move to Chelsea FC this summer. The highly-rated left-back has been constantly rumoured to make a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
The Blues coach Frank Lampard is known to be a huge admirer of the English international. Reportedly, he wants to sign Chilwell to sort out Chelsea FC’s defensive woes. However, pricing concerns have not made it possible for Lampard to finalize the 23-year old Chilwell’s transfer approach.
The Blues have struggled in recent games owing to their rather shoddy defensive issues. Marcos Alonso has been singled out for criticism on quite a few occasions. The Spaniard has been unable to impress Lampard to keep his place in the Chelsea FC starting lineup ahead of next season.
As a result, the manager of the West London based outfit has sought to sign a new left-back this summer for the Blues. Chilwell had been identified by Lampard to be the perfect fit for a new looking Chelsea FC lineup next season.
However, Brendan Rodger’s recent comments throw light upon Leicester City being keen on keeping Chilwell at the club beyond the current season. The 23-year old has been one of the star performers for the Foxes’ brilliant 2019-20 campaign.
The Leicester City boss stated in an interview recently that he was unsure whether Chilwell had played his last game for the Foxes. However, Rodgers did assert his intention of not selling the 23-year old this summer despite interest from other clubs.
Chelsea FC and Manchester City FC have both expressed interest in signing the English international. However, an £80million price-tag reportedly quoted by the Foxes earlier meant both sides were hesitant on pursuing further negotiations.

Despite Leicester City’s reluctance on letting Chilwell leave, there is still a possibility of Chelsea FC securing the transfer. If the Foxes miss out on Champions League football next season, it would become difficult for Rodgers to keep hold of Chilwell at the club.
The 23-year old wing-back is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a thigh injury. Chilwell joins teammates James Maddison and Christian Fuchs on the recovery table for the coming weeks, as Leicester City face a battle against Manchester United for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
