Batshuayi looks certain to be on the way out

Crystal Palace and West Ham United have emerged as the frontrunners to land the signing of Chelsea FC outcast Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker has found himself to be on the fringes of Frank Lampard’s side and looks certain to be sold by the Blues in the ongoing transfer window.

Batshuayi has been a long-term target for West Ham United boss David Moyes for his side. The Hammers are known to be lacking attacking options, and Batshuayi fits the bill for Moyes’s desired signing.

The presence of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud at Lampard’s disposal has meant very few playing opportunities have come Batshuayi’s way this season. Moreover, Blues’ new signing Timo Werner’s arrival would mean that Batshuayi is certainly on his way out of Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

The 26-year old striker needs regular first-team opportunities to stake his comeback into the Belgian national team ahead of next year’s UEFA Euros. For him, first-team chances have been hard to come by at Chelsea FC this season. Abraham and Giroud have become Lampard’s first choice strikers for the Blues.

Despite being largely unimpressive during his time in the Blues’ shirt, Batshuayi has had productive loan spells away from Stamford Bridge. The Belgian was a great performer for Borussia Dortmund during his half-season loan stint at the Bundesliga outfit. Batshuayi scored seven goals in ten games for Dortmund helping them achieve a top-four finish.

During his time at Crystal Palace in the second half of the 2018-19 season, Batshuayi proved to be an impressive addition to the Eagles squad. The 26-year old Belgian linked up well with Palace star Wilfried Zaha and scored five goals in 11 appearances for the Premier League side.

However, in spite of his fine run of form elsewhere, Batshuayi has put in timid displays for Chelsea FC. The Belgian international has scored just one goal in 16 Premier League games so far for the Blues this season.

Batshuayi’s future looks bleak at Stamford Bridge amid interest from many Premier League sides. Chelsea FC may well be open to the idea of selling the player if a reasonable bid arrives.
