Everton FC have identified Chelsea FC center-back Kurt Zouma as a priority signing in the summer. Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Everton FC, has been in the transfer market for a new central defender for his team in recent months.
Zouma has been an important player for the Blues under Frank Lampard this season. However, it is believed that Lampard is not worrying about the Frenchman signing for another side in the summer. The Chelsea FC boss has also been on the hunt to sign a new center-back for the Blues ahead of next season.
Everton FC were previously linked with a move for Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva who was being released by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. However, the talks did not materialize and instead, Zouma has emerged as a major target for the Premier League side.
Zouma had also been courted for a move by Everton FC last summer. However, Chelsea FC decided against selling the French international that time after having sold David Luiz to Arsenal FC. The current season has seen the 25 year old center-back step up to the challenge of leading Chelsea FC to a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Besides Everton FC, other Premier League teams have also declared their interest in signing Zouma. Leicester City FC and West Ham United FC too are keen on Zouma’s transfer. However, Everton FC are being considered the frontrunner in the race to sign the 25-year old.
It had been reported previously that Jose Mourinho was eager on signing Zouma for his current side Tottenham Hotspurs. With Jan Vertonghen set to leave the Spurs at the end of the season, Mourinho had been linked with a move for Zouma. The French international had played under Mourinho during the Portuguese coach’s reign at the Blues.
Having signed for Chelsea FC in 2014 from Saint Etienne, Zouma has made over 100 appearances in the Blues shirt. The player has also spent loan spells at Everton FC and Stoke City FC.
