Frank Lampard has stated that Christian Pulisic’s injury will have to be assessed further. The young winger had to be substituted in Chelsea FC’s FA Cup tie against Leicester City with muscle pain.
Pulisic was in fine form throughout the first half of the game against Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City side. The American international looked the sharpest among his fellow Blues teammates on the pitch. The Chelsea FC side generally struggled to get a breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes of the game.
However, upon complaining of muscular tension, Lampard chose to replace Pulisic with the returning Ruben Loftus Cheek at the King Power Stadium. Pulisic was then seen in the stands with an ice pack strapped to the affected area.
Lampard clarified the extent of Pulisic’s injury in the post-match conference. The Blues coach said that the player will have to go through a medical check to determine the seriousness of the injury. However, Lampard expressed hope that Pulisic would not be sidelined for the upcoming fixtures for Chelsea FC.
The Blues manager stated that Pulisic should be available for Chelsea FC’s upcoming Premier League game against West Ham United. Frank Lampard’s side will visit the London Stadium to play the Hammers on 2nd July.
The 21-year old Pulisic had been on the recovery table for the entirety of January and February earlier this year. An upper leg injury had prevented the American from featuring for the Blues during the start of 2020.
Pulisic has been in sublime form recently for Frank Lampard’s side. After being restored to the starting lineup, the attacker has scored in both of Chelsea FC’s games post lockdown. Pulisic got on the scoresheet in games against Aston Villa FC and Manchester City FC.
The revival of form by the American will prove to be a massive boost to Chelsea FC who are competing for a top-four finish. The presence of Pulisic on the pitch is important for the Blues as the player is blessed with a rapid pace and is very agile. He gave a hard time to Kyle Walker and Fernandinho in the recent game against Manchester City FC in the Premier League.
