Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba has had an amazing career right from his early days at Old Trafford before leaving to join the Turin based club Juventus.
This move to Italy saw the rise to fame and popularity of the young star as he featured alongside a couple of big names.
On the other hand, Leicester City’s N’golo Kante helped his side win the Premier League before moving to Chelsea FC. Just like the fame of Pogba was rising in the news, Kante was generating headlines as regards to his impressive performance on the pitch.
This saw both players likened to each other for many reasons as they now turn out for Premier League rivals in Manchester United andv Chelsea.
However, with this link citing both players together, we evaluate the three similarities between these two midfield players.
Here are the related features between Paul Pogba and Chelsea’s N’golo Kante.
3. AFRICAN ORIGIN
While both players have made their international decision contrary to their supposed roots they are of African ancestry.
Paul Pogba is a native of West African side Guinea even as he travelled over there during the burial ceremony of his late father Fassou Antoine Pogba to perform the necessary rites as regards to the Guinean tradition.
Kante on their other hand hails from the same region of Africa. He is a West African from Mali despite pitching his international allegiance against the interest of the African Nations.
Both stars will be missed as they would have been a big addition to the success Guinea and Mali may be desiring on the African scene.
2. THE FRENCH CONNECTION
Despite hailing from the African continent both players have gone on to feature for the French National team.
Paul Pogba a native of Guinea has even gone on to feature for France at the U-20 level more like Alexandre Lacazette while winning the Championship in the year 2014. He won the U-20 cadre event as a captain and was adjured as the best player of the tournament.
That may not be the same case for his French colleague N’golo Kante but he’s featured at the Euro’s 2016 and 2018 World Cup for the French side also known as the Les Blues.
This may have drawn the comparison between the two midfield dynamite though they operate from different positions on the field of play as is obvious.
1. WORLD CUP WINNERS
Both players have achieved the desired goal for an International player despite ditching their country of origin to play for France.
They won the World Cup after beating surprise package Croatia 4-2 in the finals. Paul Pogba was on the score sheet in the final pulling the strings on behalf of Didier Deschamp’s side.
Kante was key to this achievement as he lined up in midfield along with another player of African origin in Blaise Matuidi.
This made France a team to beat as they showed strength and a high level of technicality in the middle of the Park.
This is what both players may have achieved in union with the French player as they would remain World Cup winners for sure in their lifetime.
This may have earned them the focal point they aspired for in the first place as a (budding) player as they are widely sought after by top clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
