Chelsea were beaten in a frenetic clash against Newcastle as the host piped their opponent 1-0 at home. It was a tough one for both sides as it ended goalless at half time.
Chelsea and Frank Lampard were looking to add to their point tally while Steve Bruce’s Newcastle have other plans at home which they confirmed in the match as they claimed a vital three points from the hand of Chelsea.

The home side scored the much needed goal for the win as Chelsea left the pitch without a single point in the contest.
Following Chelsea’s couple of missed chances in front of goal, they paid with their own coin as Isaac Hayden got the winner in the injury following a set-piece that was played into the Chelsea box for the goal.
Lampard would certainly be hurt by the result as his job is now made tougher ahead of the midweek fixtures. Isaac goal stunned the Chelsea faithful as they held their hand on their head in dismay due to the time the goal arrived for Newcastle.
Chelsea’s Lost Advantage
Playing Newcastle United was a supposed lost opportunity for Chelsea to advance in point haul but it wasn’t to be as they failed the Newcastle test at the weekend.
Knowing that Manchester United would face Liverpool at home with the possibility of a Liverpool victory, Chelsea should have capitalize with a win, ending hope for United as regards to the top four finish.
However this wasn’t to be as Chelsea leeks their wounds via the loss (1-0) to Newcastle United on the road.
