Chelsea’s match with Burnley presents the quota for season improvement as both sides have their own ambition in the season.
The two teams exist at two different ends of the table making the host Chelsea the obvious favourite ahead of the game.
Many have predicted an outright Chelsea win as the Blues play at home. But it could be drastic for Chelsea to assume otherwise as we evaluate the reasons why Burnley must not be taken for granted despite the fact they play away at Chelsea.
CHELSEA TRANSFER DISTRACTION
The blues at the moment may be at an advantage after having the transfer ban been lifted from their shoulders. But what does it spell for the Chelsea side in terms of squad selection and team focus?
The transfer bans led to the emergence of bright stars like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham (all loaned at Aston Villa) and Fikayo Tomori (loaned to Derby country) at the club.
However, the form of Chelsea’s leading goal scorer (tammy) has spark speculation over Olivier Giroud as talks continue to pour in for the players.
This may cause some forms of distraction for the club as Chelsea needs full attention to beat Burnley at home.
BURNLEY BIG-GAME THREAT
The visitors might be on the receiving side in the Premier League but they’re still not a pushover as far as the match is concerned.
Sean Dyche’s men are in the wrong end of the log fueling relegation on their own part.
The club is known for the big game threat as it has shocked some of the best sides in the Premier League. This includes the London side Tottenham Hotspur as Burnley travels to London to face Chelsea.
MEASURE OF INCONSISTENCY
As Chelsea take on Burnley, the visitors will be up for the game of their lives as they seek redemption on the road against Frank Lampard and his young side.
Chelsea on their part may have registered a win already in the New Year following a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
However, the Blues inconsistency gives Burnley some form of hope ahead of the tie as Chelsea beat Arsenal at the Emirates only to drop points (1-1) against Brighton and Hove Albion in the New Year as a result of the same dilemma.
