According to the latest reports, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has explained that star forward Olivier Giroud could leave the club in the January transfer window in order for regular football elsewhere.
Since arriving at Chelsea as a manager in the summer, Frank Lampard has done quite a stellar job guiding the West London giants to fourth place on the Premier League table. Despite a transfer ban that did not allow Chelsea to sign any new players in the summer, Lampard has promoted and trusted youth and the young players at the club have delivered.
Despite the young players delivering on a regular basis, veteran forward Olivier Giroud has not been given regular football under Lampard, Since arriving at Stamford Bridge from North London, Giroud has been unable to feature as much as he would have preferred.
The 33-year-old striker played a crucial role for France in their World Cup win in Russia last year but it seems like Giroud is not in Lampard’s plans for the future. Giroud is now into the final six months of his contract with Chelsea and it doesn’t look as if he will get a contract extension.
Speaking out on the Frenchman, 41-year-old Chelsea boss revealed that Giroud could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window,” There’s no update on Ollie, but I’ve spoken with him. If the conditions are that it’s something he really wants to do and it works for the club, for me and the squad then it’s something that could happen. But only when all of those bases are covered. So we’ll see if we’re there.”
