Chelsea forward Willian has insisted he will not be looking to sign a pre-contract agreement with any other club in January despite interest from several clubs as he waits to learn if he will be offered a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The winger can leave Chelsea on a free transfer next summer and his future remains uncertain, even though Frank Lampard has made it clear he wants to keep the 31-year-old.
The Brazilian international can sign a contract with any foreign club in January under the Bosman ruling but is adamant that he will not speak to any clubs and remain committed to Chelsea.
‘I don’t want to talk to (other clubs) because I have a contract until the end of the season,’ he said after Chelsea’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Valencia.
‘I am a Chelsea player but I just want to say the club knows what I want to do.’
He added: ‘Honestly, I’m happy here. I feel happy to play for this club but this situation is not in my hands. It is in theirs. I wait for them.
‘They know what I want, what I want to do. They already know so I wait for them.’
Willian, who moved to Stamford Bridge in 2013 from Russian side Anzhi, started the thrilling draw at the Mestalla on Wednesday night and has been a key source of experience for Frank Lampard’s young side.
Willian has started the majority of Chelsea’s games this season on the right-wing and his work rate has been praised by Frank Lampard, with Lampard even saying that Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi can learn from Willian.
The Chelsea boss said recently that he hopes the Brazilian will remain at the club for some time.
