Chelsea were beaten 1-2 by defending Champions Manchester City despite leading the game and starting the game on a much better note.
Willian missed a glorious chance to put the visitors ahead after 10 minutes. The rued chance didn’t affect the visitors much as Kovacic soon put N’golo Kante through on goal, who finished smartly to make it 0-1 for Chelsea.
What followed was total onslaught of pressure and aggression by the Sky Blues. Kevin De Bruyne soon equalised after the ball deflected off Kurt Zouma from just outside the box.
Riyadh Mahrez then created a goal scoring opportunity out of nowhere and then even managed to finish the attempt to win it for the Citizens.
Kepa – 6.5
Couldn’t do much to save off either De Bruyne and Mahrez. Offered Aguero a big chance to put the game to bed but got lucky as the crossbar came to his rescue. Saved magnificently to fend off Mahrez in the 2nd period.
Tomori – 5.5
Should’ve scored in the opening exchanges and put Chelsea in cruise control. Shambles in defence at times but managed some how. Could be one of the guilty parties in the De Bruyne’s goal.
Zouma – 5.5
Disaster for the England international. Just nicked the ball in the way home to lead to De Bruyne’s goal. Couldn’t deal with the ever growing pressure by the City attackers.
Emerson – 6
Bad day at office for the Italian. Couldn’t deal with Mahrez AT ALL! The Algerian twisted him out on the way to find the back of the net to win it for City. Poor going forward as well. Was subbed just before the 60th minute mark to make way for Reece James.
Kante – 7.5 MoTM
Scored wonderfully to put the away side ahead. Smart finish and control to keep it out the Ederson’s grasps. The France international has now scored against both title rivals, Liverpool and City. Composed in possession and kept the attackers in much check but couldn’t manage to fend them off at every break.
Kovacic – 6.5
Delivered a perfected weighted and timed ball to Kante, who opened the scored. Couldn’t deal with Silva and Rodrigo’s attacking presence. Passed with accuracy though.
Jorginho- 6
Poor game for the Italian. Had very few chances to make a lasting impact on the score sheet. Not anywhere close his best. Couldn’t create many materialistic chances for the attackers as well.
Willian – 6.5
A rare positive from the attacking players. Nearly scored from a volley from just outside the box. Should’ve scored in the opening moments but missed by just a yard. Attacked with impetus.
Pulisic – 5.5
Fizzed out totally after a wonderful start. The game brought a sudden end to his scoring streak. Wasn’t involved in the latter stages in the opening period and the second one as well. Fatigued by international duties probably.
Abraham – 6
Nowhere in the game. Couldn’t help any attacking movements apart from creating one for Willian. Held the ball up nicely but wasn’t effective in linking up with attackers.

Came in for a poor Emerson. Not involved that often to create an impact on the game.
Mason Mount – 5
Had a good chance to score off the free kick, which he missed by a whisker.
