Chelsea beat Watford 1-2 in Saturday’s Late night match to take home 3 comfortable points.
The Londoners started well and it was the CDM Jorginho, who provided a delightful lobbed ball for Tammy Abraham to score.
The England striker chipped the ball on the on rushing keeper Foster to open the scoring in the 5th minute. It was all Chelsea to open the second half and USMNT’s Christian Pulisic who got 3 last weekend doubled Chelsea’s lead after linking up Abraham.
Watford got one back through a Roberto Pereyra penalty after a controversial VAR led decision.
Kepa – 7
Had a good game between the sticks. Saved well a couple of times and his passing was decent. Made a quite astonishing save in the dying moments to deny Foster the equaliser. Would be gutted to lose his clean sheet.
Emerson – 7
Came in for Alonso and played very well. Came in after an injury but managed fairly. Lampard would be pleased with the left backs at his disposal with both Alonso and Emerson looking sharp.
Tomori – 7.5
Wonderful game for the youngster. Easily the best player defensively for the Londoners. Provided a sense of calmness in the back line. Held the line quite well.
Zouma – 7
Also had a quite decent game. The CB never looked like letting anyone near the goal and tackled perfectly to win the ball. Superb block in the second period to keep the scores at 0-1.
Azpilicueta – 6
Looked fragile at times but the Watford attackers couldn’t make him pay. No threat on the attack. Of game for the Spain international. Not really his best performances of the season.
Jorginho – 7
Supplied a quite extraordinary lobbed ball through to Abraham in the opening minutes. Looked assuring and held defensive ground. Confident in passing and made an astounding 117 accurate passes in the game. Booked.
Kovacic – 8.5 – MoTM
134 accurate passes, 96% passing accuracy and a quite fantastic game by the Croat. 11 of his 12 long balls reached their targets. Overall an industrious display and covered almost the entire ground. One of his best games for the Blues.
Mount – 7
Average game for the Three Lions midfielder. Looks like a lot of routine game time has taken a bit off the youngster. Unlucky not to score off a well taken effort. Found pockets of space here and there and managed to take something out of those situations.
Willian – 6.5
Just average throughout the game. Couldn’t create much of an impact in the game. Nice little ball to Abraham for the second. No real venom going ahead. Did some decent back tracking.
Pulisic – 7.5
Good game by the American. Gradually adapting to England’s game and waited for his reward after a hard working first 45. Tapped in comfortably to double the lead.
Abraham – 8.5
Opened the scoring with a delicious lob for the Blues. Should’ve doubled the lead in the first half but Foster’s save kept Watford in the game. Fizzed off at times but did the damage at the crucial moments. Provided a nice cross to let Pulisic to tap in.
