Chelsea winger Willian has admitted that he finds it weird that current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is his boss.
The Brazil international played alongside the Blues legend 26 times during the 13/14 season which was Lampard’s last season at Chelsea after which he had signed for Mls club New York City and subsequently played for rivals Manchester City on loan.
Lampard took over as boss in July this year and despite a rocky start, has seen his side climb to fifth in the table – just two points off second place.
Lampard was full of praise for the experienced winger, insisting that he has been Chelsea’s best player in the last four or five games.
Willian has been in a rich vein of form recently, he scored in Chelsea’s 2-0 home victory against Brighton and followed that up by scoring the winner against Lille to get Chelsea up and running in the Champions League.
‘He was an intelligent player, one of the best in his position,’ Willian told Chelseafc.com.
‘A quality player. When you see players like him you can say maybe in the future he can become a manager, and he’s here with us!
‘It’s a bit weird he is my boss now, but I am very happy to work with him again. He has given me the confidence to play. He wants me to be happy. A part of the performances I have had in the past couple of games I have to dedicate to him.
‘He always says to me “I want you to be happy”. That’s why I have been playing as I have been.’
Willian is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with La Liga champions Barcelona in the past.
