Good save in the first half to deny Lille after they broke through on the counter-attack. Maybe should have done better for Lille’s equalizer
Reece James
His first start in the Champions League and played as a right wing-back. Didn’t look overawed by the occasion and got forward well. Booked for a rash challenge in the first half
Cesar Azpilicueta 6.5
Started on the right of a back three, a position he has played many times under old boss Antonio Conte. Looked solid and covered well for Reece James.
Kurt Zouma 6
He does not look comfortable playing in a back three and was lucky to be bailed out by Kepa after he played a poor pass in the first half. Should have got his head to the ball for the corner in which Lille equalized.
Fikayo Tomori 7
Did not do much wrong, starting on the left of a back three. Brilliantly assisted Tammy Abraham for Chelsea’s opening goal
Marcos Alonso 6.5
Got in good positions upfield but his final ball was poor on the night. Blazed a free kick in a good position over in the first half.
Jorginho 6
Played some good passes and switched the play well. Hardly ever loses the ball but did not offer much in the final third before almost getting on the scoresheet with a lovely curling effort that hit the bar.
N’golo Kante 6
Broke up play well as he always does but did not contribute much offensively as he has been doing recently for Chelsea.
Mason Mount 7
He did not offer much in the first half for Chelsea. Pressed the Lillie defenders well as he has been doing for most of this season.
Willian 7.5
He is enjoying a great run of games in the team at the moment. Did not do much in the first half but helped out debutant Reece James well defensively.
Tammy Abraham 7
He continued his good form by opening the scoring for Chelsea after he controlled Tomoris’s pass and kept his balance to put the ball past the goalkeeper.
