New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has delivered some news that Chelsea fans might not like to hear as the 41-year-old has stated that even a top-six finish might not be certain this season.
The Blues are in a bit of a difficult situation at the moment as they have managed only five points out of a possible 12 before the international break. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard also had to deal with a transfer ban which meant that he could not be able to sign any players in the next two transfer windows.
The loss of star Belgian forward Eden Hazard will also cause Chelsea a few problems in the attacking third as the 28-year-old left to join Real Madrid. Lampard also has only one year of management experience and that was during his time at Derby County in the Championship but he almost guided the Rams to the Premier League.
However, a job like Chelsea is of a whole different magnitude and with the competition extremely stiff for a Champions League spot, Lampard has stated that it will be extremely difficult to even guarantee a top-six finish.
While speaking to reporters, Lampard said that Arsenal, Wolves, and Spurs are strong enough to create a problem for Chelsea, “Because from a day when, almost the top four, you could probably write it down at the start of the season, certainly now you can’t. A top-six you can’t write down. Teams are investing heavily. They are well managed, they have good players, they are competitive”
