Tammy Abraham Wants To Follow Drogba’s Footsteps

Chelsea forward has claimed that he wants to follow in the same path of legendary Ivorian forward Didier Drogba after idolizing him as a youngster while growing up.

The Blues haven’t gotten off to a great start in the Premier League under new boss Frank Lampard as they have managed only five points in four games. Even Liverpool beat Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup last month but Lampard is quite openly giving youth a chance to showcase their talents on the big stage even though Tammy Abraham missed the decisive penalty against the Reds in Istanbul.

One player who is grabbing the spotlight with both hands is English forward Tammy Abraham as the 21-year-old has already netted four times in as many appearances for the west London outfit. But the young striker has a healthy appetite for stardom as he intends to follow the same legacy a former Chelsea star left behind.

Didier Drogba left Chelsea back in 2012 which was incidentally the same time Abraham joined the Blues. But during his nine-year spell at Stamford Bridge, Drogba wrote his name in the history books of the club helping them to win two Premier League titles as well as the only Champions League in Chelsea’s past.

Abraham was watching Drogba throughout his young stages and the Englishman has expressed his desire to follow his idol, the 41-year-old Drogba by contributing for Chelsea., “I have so many stories from when I was younger watching him, growing up watching such a talented striker. I’ve always wanted to be like him, always hungry to score goals. Just looking at him he had that appearance about him. And I’ve always wanted to add that to my game. So to follow in his footsteps [as the club’s main striker] is always nice.”
