Chelsea’s 25-year-old left-back Baba Rahman is set to join La Liga side Real Mallorca in a season-long loan move deal before the end of the European transfer window.
Baba Rahman signed for Chelsea during the disastrous campaign of 2015/16 when Jose Mourinho was sacked after a poor start to the season. Rahman suffered a number of injuries during his Chelsea career and was primed ‘too attacking’ to fit into former boss Antonio Conte’s plans.
The Ghana international then had loan spells at Schalke where he spent two years and then most recently at Ligue 1 side Reims. Rahman failed to impress in both sides and will now look to get his career back on track at Spanish side Real Mallorca.
Rahman has failed to impress new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and might not stand a chance to feature for the Blues as Emerson and Marcos Alonso are the general first-team options for the 41-year-old Englishman.
Rahman made only 23 appearances for Chelsea in four years since signing from German club FC Augsburg in a deal worth 22 million pounds. His contract is up at the end of the season and with this season-long loan, his Chelsea career is surely all but over.
Chelsea has five points in four Premier League games so far this season and the Blues will try to get as optimum as possible following the international break.
