Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi netted twice in the 3-0 win over Liverpool’s U-23’s side this week proving that he is willing to fight for his future and a starting berth at Stamford Bridge.
It has been quite a disastrous start for Frank Lampard as he returned to Chelsea as a manager because he is yet to get a win under his belt. The Blues suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League season and that was followed by a loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup on a penalty shootout.
Chelsea managed to get their first point of the season as they drew 1-1 against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge and needs some boost to help his squad.
Fortunately for Chelsea, Michy Batshuayi scored in the game against the Liverpool U-23’s and the Belgian sent a message to his new manager that he can step up to the big occasion if given the chance.
Batshuayi has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer as Serie A club AS Roma is keen on his services on a loan deal. The ex-Marseille striker arrived at Chelsea back in the summer of 2016 in a £33 million deal and was Antonio Conte’s first signing but he has been sent out on loan on quite a few occasions. The center-forward has had loan spells with Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace and Valencia over the past three seasons but is now willing to make an impression on Lampard despite the fact that he is behind Giroud and Abraham on the selection list.
Although the Premier League transfer window has come to a close on August 9th, the European transfer window closes on September 2nd which means that other clubs in the European continent have the opportunity to secure the services of Batshuayi. But Batshuayi is eager to fight for his spot at Chelsea and snub a loan move as Serie A outfit AS Roma are monitoring his situation.
