Chelsea wonderkid Lewis Hall has signed a permanent deal with Premier League side Newcastle United. The 19-year-old talent moved to the Magpies last summer on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if Eddie Howe’s side finish above 15th spot in the points table. As stated by Romano, Chelsea will receive €32.7 million for the English international.
Newcastle defeated English rivals Tottenham Hotspur by a 4-0 scoreline and it guarantees that they will finish above the 15th place.
Lewis Hall has played 16 games for his new club this season and although he hasn’t been featuring regularly, Howe’s team is impressed by his quality.

Hall is a Chelsea academy graduate and he made his debut for their senior team in their FA Cup victory over Chesterfield in 2022. He became their youngest player to debut in this competition.

He became a regular player under interim manager Frank Lampard as Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell struggled with injuries. However, Mauricio Pochettino didn’t prefer Hall and allowed the youngster to move to Newcastle on loan.
Howe was recently asked about the chances of the right-back joining the Magpies this summer. He said:
“Yeah, I think so. That’s why I’m preparing for him to be here long term and I’m delighted with that because he has many qualities that we’re looking for.”
“In terms of my thinking, I’m preparing for Lewis to be at Newcastle for many years. He was always brought in with a long-term view, not a short-term signing. He is a long-term signing.”
It is a profitable deal for the Blues since they had recently disclosed their pre-tax loss of £90.1 million. Lewis Hall’s sale will help them ease the burden from their financial books.

However, the move also raises questions about the risk of letting go of a homegrown talent. The English full-back could be a star player for Newcastle in the future and it remains to be seen whether the Blues regret letting the youngster leave the club.
