Willian Will Become Chelsea’s New Number 10

Chelsea winger Willian has admitted that the he will be wearing the number 10 jersey following the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.

It’s finally sunk in for the Blues faithful as Eden Hazard has left Stamford Bridge to join his dream club Real Madrid in a stunning £132 million deal earlier this summer transfer window. The 28-year-old winger was one of the best players for Chelsea over the past half a decade and helped the West London side to win two Premier League titles, One League Cup, one FA Cup, and two Europa League titles as well.

But the void that Hazard left will be difficult for Chelsea to fill up as the attacker was the key man to make things happen for Chelsea in the attacking third. Along with Hazard’s departure, his number 10 jersey will be left vacant and Chelsea has decided to hand over that outfit to Willian.

The 30-year-old Brazilian is one of the longest-serving players at Chelsea and confirmed that the club offered him the gesture which he obliged, “I was offered the number 10 jersey ahead of next season and I will take it,” said Willian, who is still in Brazil enjoying his extended holiday.

However, most Chelsea fans believed that 18-year-old star winger Callum Hudson Odoi would be offered the number 10 jersey as he would be the heir to Hazard’s throne. But Chelsea is still in the process of negotiating a contract extension for the teenager as Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are interested in his services this summer.
