Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has talked about the importance of securing all three points as they get ready to host Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues have only managed to win two of their last 15 Premier League matches at home, with just one victory in their first five home games this season.
The West Londoner’s record in the derbies is far from impressive, with just two wins in their last 12 encounters against fellow capital clubs.
This shows the significance of securing a victory on Saturday. Pochettino is stressing the need for consistency, particularly when playing in front of their home supporters while acknowledging the difficulty of the upcoming derby match.
In a pre-match conference with Chelsea TV, the manager said:
“Really important – at home we need to start to win, we need to project that we are solid and consistent in front of our fans. It’s going to be a tough game because they are a tough team – they use two different formations. We are ready to face a team that is a good team with very good players.”
The Chelsea manager is not daunted by the challenging series of upcoming matches, starting with the Brentford game and followed by fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Manchester United.

Brentford have managed to secure victories in their two prior Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge. However, no team has ever won their first three matches at Chelsea in the history of the Premier League.
The Blues are determined to prevent such a negative record while also aiming to continue their unbeaten run, at the expense of Brentford, a team that has won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
