Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has revealed that he is feeling amazing to work under new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard as the American forward idolized the ex-England midfielder while growing up.
Pulisic joined his teammates in Japan on Tuesday for the preseason training and expressed his delight at representing the Premier League giants upon making his first appearance for the Blues.
Frank Lampard was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager after Maurizio Sarri returned to Italy to take up the job at Juventus.
The all-time top goalscorer for Chelsea is now on a three-year contract with the west London outfit, a club that he knows well after having spent 13 years as a player. But the 41-year-old does not have the opportunity to make any signings over the next two transfer windows as Chelsea are undergoing a transfer ban which will last them for a year.
However, Lampard is still a legend at Chelsea and there are a few players who have dreamt of playing under his guidance and one of them is Christian Pulisic. The 20-year-old forward signed for Chelsea back in January from Borussia Dortmund in a £58 million deal but spent the rest of the season at the Westfalenstadion on a loan deal.
Now Pulisic will have the chance to play under Lampard and he spoke of his childhood and how his dream now comes true, “When I think of this club, there are a lot of great players that come to mind. I grew up watching Frank Lampard and all of those guys at the top of their game in the Premier League and in the Champions League. To me, Chelsea was always one of the biggest teams and now to be playing here, it’s really come full circle from that moment. It feels amazing”
Pulisic is likely to be a replacement for Eden Hazard, as the Belgian departed Stamford Bridge in the summer for Real Madrid and he has big shoes to fill, when asked about what he can offer to Chelsea, the American star said, “I think I have a lot of speed and creativity that I can bring to the game; quickness and different attacking abilities that can really help the team. I think I have some tools that can really do well in this league [Premier League]. I just can’t wait.”
