Chelsea preparing an offer for Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a £26 million (€30 million) offer to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund’s forward, Youssoufa Moukoko, ahead of the winter transfer window.

The Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests that Chelsea’s interest may prompt the 18-year-old to consider a move to Stamford Bridge in search of more regular playing time, with an eye on securing a place in Germany’s squad for the Euro 2024 tournament.

Moukoko has faced challenges in gaining minutes this season under coach Edin Terzic, primarily appearing as a second-half substitute.

He has played in five matches, accumulating a total of 61 minutes, and scored one goal in various competitions for Dortmund.

During the previous season, Moukoko played a crucial role for their German giants in their battle with Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, although they ultimately fell short on the final matchday.

In that season, Moukoko made 35 appearances, scoring seven goals and contributing six assists across all competitions. Additionally, Dortmund reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

Since making his debut for the club against Hertha Berlin, the German international has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising young talents, accumulating 77 appearances, 13 goals, and eight assists.

Moukoko would be a valuable addition to Chelsea’s squad, and under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, he has the potential to develop into one of the world’s top forwards.

The Blues will still face strong competition from Barcelona in their pursuit of the highly-rated young talent. Moukoko came close to leaving Dortmund last summer, but the transfer didn’t materialize.

In January, he extended his contract with Dortmund until 2026, which means the club is likely to demand a fee higher than £26 million for the gifted forward.

Chelsea are currently in a phase of rebuilding and are actively seeking to acquire the best young talents globally.

However, injuries have hindered their progress this season, resulting in a 14th place position in the Premier League with just five points.

In the current campaign, they have won only one game in the top flight, lost two, and drawn two. They are trailing the league leaders and defending champions, Manchester City, by 10 points after just five matches played.
