According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are strongly interested in acquiring the services of Inter Milan’s star striker, Lautaro Martinez.
Despite significant summer spending of nearly £400 million on new signings, Chelsea still lags behind their Premier League competitors.
While Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku were brought in to bolster the attack, the latter has yet to make his debut due to a serious knee injury sustained in pre-season.
Although Jackson impressed with his movement and finishing during the United States tour this summer, he has struggled to perform since his Premier League debut last month.

The Senegalese striker has scored just one goal in his first five appearances for the club, which is considered inadequate for a Chelsea striker leading the line.
Chelsea have a keen interest in Martinez, a player they’ve been monitoring for some time. The Argentine striker has not yet extended his contract with Inter for the long term.
Fichajes suggests that a substantial offer, possibly around £129 million, could potentially convince Inter to sell their club captain.
Martinez has undergone a remarkable transformation into a world-class player during his recent seasons at Inter.
He had an impressive 25 goals and 4 assists in the 2021-22 season, followed by an even better performance last season with 28 goals and 11 assists.

In the current season, he has already contributed 5 goals and 1 assist in just 4 appearances for Inter Milan. At 26 years old, Martinez is unquestionably at the peak of his career, making it unsurprising that Chelsea are considering a potential deal.
The Blues are financially capable of making a significant investment in January. However, the key question is whether Inter would be open to the idea of parting with their prized asset in the middle of the season.
The Serie A giants approved high-value transfers, including Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and Andre Onana, but these departures all occurred during the summer transfer window.
It is speculated that Chelsea might need to be patient and wait until the next summer transfer window to secure the striker’s services.
