Reece James has shared a positive update on his injury status as he strives to put an end to his ongoing fitness struggles.
The 23-year-old, who was appointed Chelsea captain this summer, has faced a series of injuries similar to the previous season and hasn’t played in Mauricio Pochettino’s team since the opening weekend draw against Liverpool.
However, Pochettino has admitted that the Chelsea captain won’t be sidelined for an extended period, and the international break provides a natural opportunity to focus on his fitness.
James is not part of the England national team during this break.
As stated by the Football London, James has shared a photo of himself training at Cobham with the caption “Back to it soon.”.

While Malo Gusto was brought in as backup in January and has been making progress under the manager, having James return to full fitness will be a significant advantage for the team.
The pressure is mounting on Pochettino, especially after the team’s poor start to the season with losses against West Ham and Nottingham Forest in the first four games. This comes amid another summer of huge spending by the club.
Chelsea currently sits in 12th place in the league standings, having accumulated four points from their first four games of the season.

James has played a crucial role in the team’s 3-5-2 formation. In his absence, Gusto has contributed with two assists in attack but has struggled defensively.
The Blues are eagerly anticipating James’s return for their upcoming match against Bournemouth on September 17 after the international break, as his presence is essential to the team’s performance.
