Chelsea are close to finalizing a deal with Corinthians as they aim to sign Brazilian talent Gabriel Moscardo.
According to UOL journalist Bruno Andrade, the Blues have made an offer that could potentially become the record sale in Corinthians’ history.
Chelsea are prepared to make an initial payment of €21 million for the 17-year-old defensive midfielder, with an extra €4 million potentially being paid in additional fees.
While Corinthians are on the brink of securing a record-breaking sale, they’ve also included a 10% sell-on clause in the deal, which means they could earn a significant sum if Chelsea decides to transfer Moscardo in the future.
This agreement will result in the South American club receiving a total of €25 million, surpassing the €20 million they earned when Benfica acquired Pedrinho in 2020.
If the deal is finalised, Moscardo is expected to continue his development with Corinthians until he reaches the age of 18, after which he will join the Blues in the summer.
The young player will become part of Chelsea’s Cobham youth system, although there is a possibility of an immediate temporary loan move away from Stamford Bridge.
It’s worth noting that Moscardo was promoted to the Corinthians’ first team in July and has made just ten senior appearances in various competitions for the Brazilian club.
Since the Todd Boehly-led consortium assumed control of Chelsea last summer, the club has made a habit of recruiting talent from the Brazilian top flight.
Moscardo is on the verge of becoming the fourth young Brazilian player to make the move from South America to Chelsea during the Boehly era. This follows the earlier arrivals of Andrey Santos, Angelo Gabriel, and Deivid Washington.

Santos will continue his development in the Premier League with a season-long loan to Nottingham Forest, while Angelo has been loaned out to Chelsea’s affiliated club, RC Strasbourg.
Washington is expected to join Angelo in the French top flight, and Moscardo’s impending arrival will bring the Blues’s spending to nearly £1 billion over the last three transfer windows.
