Official- Frank Lampard Is The New Chelsea Manager

The Blues have officially appointed former club midfielder Frank Lampard as the new Chelsea manager on a three-year deal.

The 41-year-old still holds the title of the all-time top goalscorer for Chelsea but he has now returned to manage the club that made him the man that he is today. Following Maurizio Sarri’s departure to join Juventus in the Serie A, Lampard was the man that Chelsea decided to agree upon as the Italian’s successor.

Lampard has only one year of managerial experience and he almost guided Derby County to the Premier League as the Rams reached the Championship play-off final but lost to Aston Villa in his debut season as manager.

The Englishman made 648 appearances for the West London club as a player across 13 years and won 11 major trophies as well.  The former Chelsea midfielder will take over the club after Chelsea were handed a two-year transfer ban by FIFA which means that he cannot sign players for a whole year.

Following his appointment, Lampard admitted his delight at returning to Chelsea and the job at hand, “I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach. Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared. However, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead. I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”
