Crystal Palace are in the process of finalizing a loan deal to sign Chelsea’s young talent, Lewis Hall, according to Football London.
The Eagles are eager to secure the services of the 18-year-old Cobham Academy graduate, who made his breakthrough into Chelsea’s first team during the previous season.
Before going out on loan, Hall will sign a long-term contract with Chelsea. His opportunity to feature in the first team came about due to injuries to left-backs Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella.
Hall, who initially played as a midfielder, made an impressive transition to the left-back position when he joined the team. Despite Chelsea’s challenging season, the youngster stood out as a bright spot, seamlessly fitting into his new role.
The young England international showcased his talent by creating five significant scoring opportunities in just 11 appearances for the club.

He faced formidable opponents such as Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle United without showing any signs of being overwhelmed.
Hall’s outstanding debut campaign earned him the Chelsea Academy Player of the Year Award. However, breaking into the first team in the upcoming season might prove difficult for him, mainly because the club was unable to sell Marc Cucurella, who hasn’t shown much improvement from the previous season.
Cucurella is uncertain about his future at the club, as no potential buyers have emerged, leading him to stay with the team.
In contrast, both Ben Chilwell and Ian Maatsen have performed well during pre-season, suggesting Hall might have to seek playing time elsewhere.
Crystal Palace, under manager Roy Hodgson, sees potential in Hall’s versatility, as he can play in various positions. The Eagles currently have only one left-back in their squad, Tyrick Mitchell, who sustained an injury in their pre-season loss against Millonarios.

Mitchell’s availability for their first Premier League game against Sheffield United on August 12 is doubtful, prompting Palace to consider Hall as an option if Mitchell remains unfit.
The club would be keen to have him on board for the upcoming game next week.
