Chelsea have been handed a welcome boost in pursuit of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo with Arsenal pulling out of the race to sign the midfield talent this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s North Londoners were linked with Caicedo since the January transfer window but saw their efforts firmly turned down by the Seagulls who were keen to retain their first-team star for the second half of the campaign.
According to a report from The Times ( via The Express), it is claimed that Arsenal have withdrawn their interest in the Brighton starlet with the Premier League runners up expected to shift their focus towards striking a deal for West Ham United skipper Declan Rice.
This turn of events would be a much needed boost to Chelsea who are out in the market this summer to sign a new midfielder but the Blues will be involved in a two-horse race for Caicedo’s signature with Manchester United also keeping tabs on him.
Chelsea are said to be eager to bring Caicedo to Stamford Bridge despite being unable to offer him the opportunity to turn out in the Champions League next season.
