Blues striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that he dreams of winning the Premier League title with Chelsea.
Under new boss Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea have played some really eye-catching football this season as they sit in 4th place on the Premier League table. The Blues handed champions Manchester City their first defeat in the Premier League last week after a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. Despite a top-four finish still not guaranteed, French striker Olivier Giroud has some ambitious dreams with his club this season.
The former Arsenal hitman won two FA Cup’s during his time at the Emirates and one with Chelsea in the summer, but in over six years of playing football with two of the biggest clubs in London, Giroud is yet to win a Premier League title.
The 32-year-old played an integral role for France during their World Cup triumph as well but has now revealed that he wants to win the Premiership before he hangs his boots.
Giroud spoke to news outlet Goal and explained that he would rather win the Premier League title over the Champions League, “I prefer to be at a big club rather than playing every week in a less prestigious team and I still have targets. To win a Premier League is my last dream as a footballer, maybe more than winning a Champions League because I know how tough it is to win this league.”
Chelsea suffered humiliating defeats to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur in the recent past but Giroud still believes that Chelsea can challenge for the title, “I have team-mates here who have won it, so I’m a bit jealous. I want to make it happen. Look, I know we lost at Wolves but we beat Manchester City, so don’t count on me to give up on that dream just yet. I don’t want to end with any regrets.”
The only hope for Chelsea to win the Premier League is that if Liverpool or Chelsea drop points because it seems very tight at the top with these two giants. Chelsea also will have to ensure that they cannot slip up anymore.
