Chelsea’s on-loan forward Joao Felix has been tipped for a return to his parent club Atletico Madrid this summer in a setback to the Blues’ pursuit of the Portuguese frontman.
Felix had made the move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window from Atletico on a short-term loan until the end of the season with Chelsea expected to have been interested in making the transfer permanent.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, however, Felix could work out his difficult relationship with the Atletico head coach Diego Simeone which could set the stage for his return to the Spanish capital city.
Despite the former Benfica starlet netting only three goals in his 13 Premier League outings so far, Felix has looked lively in the attacking third of the pitch for an underperforming Chelsea side since linking up with the Blues.
Chelsea’s struggles in front of the goal, in spite of spending big on new recruits over the last two transfer windows, has been well documented and the west Londoners would have been interested in retaining Felix beyond the summer.
