Chelsea’s soon-to-be permanent head coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be willing to hand Romelu Lukaku a lifeline at Chelsea this summer.
Lukaku had a forgettable campaign back in the Premier League last term and he was shipped out on loan to Inter Milan ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign with the Chelsea board far from satisfied from his displays.
With Inter Milan not exercising the option to buy in Lukaku’s loan terms, the Belgium international is set for his return to Stamford Bridge this coming summer amid uncertainty over his future with the Blues.
According to a recent claim from the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Pochettino who is in discussions to become the Chelsea manager, wants to keep Lukaku in west London in a major development on the transfer front for Chelsea.
The Blues had been expected to dip into the transfer market this summer for a new No.9 to bolster their front line but Pochettino is reportedly eager to retain Lukaku’s services despite the 29-year-old failing to impress during his spell with Inter.
