Fabrizio Romano has played down the speculation linking Chelsea wing-back Reece James and Barcelona ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
James has been a stellar performer for an otherwise struggling Chelsea side this term and the England international put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Bridge just last year.

Barcelona’s rumoured interest in signing the defender has been rubbished by the transfer guru Romano in his recent tweet with the Italian journalist claiming that the Catalan outfit will not be moving in for James this coming summer.
The right-back is considered one of Chelsea’s most important names on the team sheet and it would not be expected of the Blues to sanction a move elsewhere at a time when the club’s board is looking to trim the squad size which stands at 33.
A number of first-team players are certain to head out the exit door at Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens later this year but James will be among those staying put for the new manager to arrive.
