Chelsea are considering hiring Frank Lampard as caretaker boss for the remainder of the season with the club legend spotted in the stands to watch the goalless draw with Liverpool on Tuesday.
Lampard, who was the Chelsea boss for 17 months, is out of a job following his sacking from Everton earlier this year and the Stamford Bridge hero could be a viable appointment to the Blues top job which is now vacant.
Graham Potter’s sacking over the weekend, just a day after Chelsea lost 2-0 to Aston Villa which left them 11th in the Premier League table, has meant that the Blues ownership is busy on the search for a new face to arrive in the dugout.
According to a report from The Sun, it is suggested that Chelsea could turn to their former manager Lampard to steer the ship through troubled waters until the end of the season with the English coach likely to be hired as a caretaker manager.
Ex-Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann appears to be the first choice candidate to replace Graham Potter at the Bridge with the former involved in discussions with the Chelsea board over taking the job.
