According to the latest reports, the Blues are prepared to rival Serie A outfit AC Milan in the pursuit for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in the January transfer window.
Chelsea is currently in the hunt for the Premier League title but after an unbeaten start across all competitions, two losses in four League games dented their aspirations which made it believe that a top 4 spot is more realistic. But manager Maurizio Sarri is well aware that local London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will provide stiff competition for that berth and Chelsea need re-enforcements in the winter transfer window.
As per latest reports from the Daily Express, Chelsea is looking to make a bid for Barcelona midfield gem Denis Suarez in the upcoming winter transfer window. Suarez has not managed to nail down a starting berth during his second spell at the Catalonian club and is at the exit door at the Camp Nou.
Suarez has made just three appearances in all competitions for Barcelona but he did manage to grab a brace against Cultural Leonesa in the Copa Del Rey during their mid-week encounter. Barcelona also considers the 24-year-old as surplus to requirements at the club and will allow him to leave if a suitable offer comes in.
Italian club AC Milan is monitoring Suarez’ situation and are hoping to lure him to the San Siro on a loan deal in January but Barcelona is not interested on a temporary deal as they want to get rid of the former Villarreal star. This is the main reason why Chelsea are leading the race to sign Suarez for a fee of around £45 million, who still has one and a half year on his Barcelona contract.
Barcelona has too many high-quality midfielders in their ranks and Suarez will not be able to showcase his ability on a regular basis. Maurizio Sarri has a tendency of getting the best out of midfielders and Suarez could revive his career at Stamford Bridge.
