Chelsea are reportedly ready to break the bank to sign Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde this summer and further improve their squad.
Since Todd Boehly took over the reigns as the co-owner at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have been generous in their spending on new recruits with 16 players coming through the door over the last two transfer windows.
According to a report from the Spanish publication El Nacional, it is claimed Chelsea are keen to move in for the 24-year-old Valverde who has grown into a world-class player while donning the Real Madrid shirt.
Previous reports have claimed that Liverpool had attempted to move in for the Uruguayan international last year but the Real president Florentino Perez was quick to rebuff the offer with the latter holding Valverde key to the club’s plans.
The player’s current deal at the Bernabeu is not due to expire till 2027 and Valverde is himself expected to turn down a move elsewhere with the midfield maestro keen to prolong his stint in the Spanish capital.
