Chelsea are likely to reignite their interest in signing Southampton’s Romeo Lavia this summer as the Blues seek a new signing to bolster the engine room.
Graham Potter snapped up Argentine World Cup star Enzo Fernandez in a British record deal in the January transfer window and the Chelsea manager would be keen to bring in another quality recruit before the next season gets underway
Saints’ teenage talent Romeo Lavia has earned rave reviews for his displays on the south coast and with Southampton battling relegation this season, a move elsewhere to sign for a bigger club could be on the cards for the midfield prodigy.
Chelsea’s recruitment director Joe Shields was key to Lavia’s move to Southampton last summer when the former was employed at St. Mary’s and a report from talkSPORT claims that the Blues are stepping up their efforts to sign Lavia this summer.
Southampton would be aware that will have no choice but to cash in on the 19-year-old Lavia should they fail to escape relegation and this could help Chelsea in their pursuit of the midfielder.
