Chelsea are keen to sign a new midfielder before the January transfer window deadline as the engine room continues to be a glaring hole in the squad at the Bridge.
According to a report from football.london, it is claimed that Chelsea have three viable options on their wishlist for the remainder of the January transfer window – Adrien Rabiot, Franck Kessie and Edson Alvarez.
The FIFA World Cup runner up Rabiot has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past as Chelsea had come close to launching a bid for the Frenchman’s signature last summer.
Kessie was another player Chelsea had their eye on before the Ivorian midfield maestro made the move to FC Barcelona where he has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities and could be on the move soon.
Edson Alvarez, meanwhile, was subject to serious interest from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 only for Ajax to play hardball over the asking price which led to Chelsea pulling the plug on talks but the Blues are still keeping tabs on his situation.
