Chelsea’s on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted he has no intention of returning to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season with Inter Milan his preferred destination to stay put.
Lukaku, who re-signed for the Blues in the summer of 2021 from Inter Milan in a big-money transfer, failed to live up to the expectations that surrounded his move back to Stamford Bridge and he was on his way back to Italy just a year later.
Inter snapped up the Belgium international in an initial loan deal and there has been speculation doing the rounds that the San Siro camp would be keen to make Lukaku’s move permanent come next summer.
The former Everton and Manchester United striker has only made four appearances for Inter in top flight action so far this season with an injury curtailing his game time but that has not affected his desire to turn out for the Serie A giants.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Italia ( via The Express), Lukaku said that he wants to remain with Inter beyond next summer and called for a meeting with the Chelsea board to decide the suitable course of action for all parties involved.
“I spoke to Chelsea about my relationship with the coach and I decided to come back to Inter.
“Things went very fast and I’m happy. I hope to stay at Inter, Inter for me is everything. But we need to find a way with Chelsea.
“I want to stay at Inter for a long time. Starting this year, my son is also playing for the Inter Youth Team and it will be great to continue here. We will talk to Chelsea at the end of the season to find a solution.”
