Chelsea wing-back Marc Cucurella has admitted his dream of a return to Barcelona just months after he made a move to Stamford Bridge from Brighton.
The Spanish defender signed for the Blues in the summer for a big money £63 million deal as Chelsea looked to add to their options at the back by bringing in the highly-rated Cucurella following his breakthrough at the Amex.
Chelsea had pipped the Premier League holders Manchester City to signing Cucurella with the Etihad outfit pulling the plug on talks with Brighton after learning of his eyewatering price-tag.
Cucurella, however, has struggled with a hit-and-miss form for his new side with his inconsistent displays costing him a spot in the Spain squad for the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
Speaking to Catalunya Radio ( via The Sun), the former Brighton man revealed his desire to turn out once again for boyhood club Barcelona which could cast uncertainty over his long-term future in the English capital.
“I didn’t get the chance to really play for Barcelona and I’ve always been gutted about that.
“In the end, if I had the chance in future, I would value it. It would be very nice.”
