Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is understood to be pushing for a deal to sign Arsen Zakharyan in a cut-price transfer from Dynamo Moscow when the transfer window reopens come January 1.
Zakharyan had come close to making the switch to Stamford Bridge last summer only for the move to fall through at the last moment following the sanctions on Russia in the aftermath of their conflict with Ukraine.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, while speaking to Caught Offside, has claimed that Chelsea remain right in the mix for Zakharyan’s signature which they hope to land in the January transfer window to bolster their ranks.
“Arsen Zakharyan wants the move to Chelsea and they’re working to sign him. They have many, really many talents in the radar but now with new directors the decision will be re-discussed again.”
The recently appointed head coach Graham Potter has been tasked with overhauling the roster at the Bridge after an underwhelming run of displays of late with Chelsea suffering three successive defeats.
Potter’s options in the front line could do with reinforcements from the transfer market as the former Brighton boss is expected to look for new faces to provide the extra impetus for his side in the attacking third of the pitch.
