Chelsea are reportedly keeping close tabs on AC Milan star Rafael Leao as contract talks between the player and the club reaches a stalemate.
The 23-year-old winger has earned serious interest from Chelsea since last summer following his impressive breakthrough at San Siro during the 2021-22 Serie A winning campaign in which he was a pivotal figure for Milan.
According to a fresh claim from 90min, it is understood that the Stamford Bridge camp remain confident of bringing in Leao who is yet to agree on extended terms at San Siro despite the club’s best efforts to strike an agreement with the forward.
AC Milan are prepared to give Leao a major wage hike, which could make him the highest-paid player in the Italian top flight, as the Serie A holders hope to ward off Chelsea’s increasing interest in moving in for the Portugal international.
The new Blues head coach Graham Potter is focused on bolstering his misfiring front line in the coming transfer windows and he is likely to step up his interest in Leao amid reports of his contract talks being stalled.
