Atletico Madrid are set to challenge Chelsea for Leandro Trossard’s signature with the Spaniards hoping to bring in the Belgian on a free transfer.
The Brighton forward’s terms at the Amex are due to expire in the summer of 2023 and a number of clubs are in the mix to secure his signing amid Chelsea credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.
Since the former Brighton boss Graham Potter was hired to the top job at Stamford Bridge, there have been rumours that he would be keen to bring in his old player who himself has voiced interest in a move to west London.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that the 27-year-old Trossard is now being eyed by the La Liga giants Atletico with the Spanish capital city outfit in the market for free agents due to their financial woes.
Brighton are said to be willing to tie Trossard down to a new long-term deal but with the World Cup scheduled for later this month, Trossard would be hoping to put out a good set of showings to earn a big-ticket transfer elsewhere.
